Away from the main attractions, in the district of Bairapmash, in one of the buildings of the shopping center “Forum Istanbul” is located Europe’s largest aquarium “TurkuaZoo”. It opened in 2009 and since then has been one of the favorite attractions of the youngest residents of Istanbul.

The total area of ​​the project is 55 thousand square meters, of which 8 thousand square meters. reserved for the current aquarium, which is planned to expand in the future. The aquarium contains tanks with water of 7 thousand cubic meters. The underwater flora and fauna of tropical seas is represented in small aquariums and extensive pools.

The main gem of the Turkish aquarium is one of the longest underwater tunnels in the world with a moving walkway. Visitors to TurkuaZoo can present themselves at the bottom of the sea and watch the sea predators gliding overhead. And there are a lot of them. There are even 2.5-meter tiger sharks. By the way, during a visit to the aquarium, you can attend the feeding of fish and even dive, accompanied by an experienced employee in the pool with dangerous inhabitants of the seas and be photographed under water as a souvenir.

In the aquarium you can see 25 thousand sea creatures. Ramps, jellyfish, small tropical fish, barracudas, turtles, octopuses live in pools filled with water from the Sea of ​​Marmara connecting the Black and Aegean Sea. The neighboring aquariums contain freshwater inhabitants of southern rivers, including piranhas.

A marine research center also operates at the Istanbul Marine Aquarium.
