South Africa, Museum of Diamonds
South Africa’s contribution to the history of diamonds has changed the global diamond industry forever. And to this day South Africa is one of the leaders in diamond mining and produces diamonds of truly unsurpassed quality. The Museum of Diamonds in Cape Town reveals the essence of this extraordinary story in an original and refined style. In the Museum of Diamonds, the visitor is offered an interesting excursion through historical epochs: from the time of the formation of the diamond and to the creation of sparkling refined treasures that we are familiar with today.
The visitor will learn about the fineness of diamond cutting and, due to the fact that there is a diamond cutting factory in the museum, every visitor will have a rare opportunity to see diamond cutters in work. Special attention should be paid to unique replicas of the most famous diamonds in the world, including “Cullinan” – the largest diamond ever found, weighing 3106 carats, as well as an inimitable natural yellow diamond (4.76 carats) with a unique impregnation in the form of a female profile .
The museum is conveniently located in the busiest center of Cape Town, on the waterfront V & A Waterfront, in the mall of the Clock Tower. Be sure to include this elegant South African museum in the program of excursions in Cape Town.
The museum operates 7 days a week, 9: 00-21: 00. Official site of the museum http://www.capetowndiamondmuseum.org/
