Ethiopia, Old Town of Axum

Aksum is the capital of the ancient Axumite kingdom (1st millennium BC), which was ruled by the dynasty of the Solomonides, who considered themselves descendants of King Solomon and Queen of Sheba.

The city literally emits the aura of antiquity. It is said that the Ethiopian king Menelik took the “Ark of the Covenant” from Jerusalem, and since then he is secretly kept in the Church of the Virgin Mary in Axum.
