Estonia, Angelsky bridge “Inglisild”
The Angel Bridge was built in the 19th century. It is thrown across the street of Losi, which runs along the valley, between the slopes of the Domberg hill. On the bridge there is an inscription “Otium reficit vires” (“Rest restores strength”), which inclines you to rest and gain strength in an ancient park on a hill. The bridge “Inglisild” was built on the site of the temporary bridge in 1814-1816.
The architect of the project was I. Krause. In 1913, the angel bridge was overhauled. Then, on the side facing the park, the bas-relief of the first rector of the University of Tartu, created by the sculptor Vetter-Rosenthal, was placed.
